Santorini
Santorini is dreamy. It is as picturesque as a postcard and each little street you turn down offers a new beautiful view. The island is a smattering of white walled structures, blue rooftops, and brilliant bougainvillea all with the ocean as one magnificent backdrop!
We stayed in Oia but a major part of the island is quite walkable with the path running along the mountain ridge and offering incredible views. We soaked up plenty of sun, ate lots of octopus, walked the ridge and basically just marveled at our surroundings – constantly! Each night at sunset a large crowd would gather out on the point to watch the famous Santorini Sunset. The dipping sun would make the red cliffs glow as sailboats danced on the sparkly water.
Getting There: From London we flew Aegean Air to Athens, then out to Santorini with a car transfer approximately 30 minutes to Oia.
Accommodations: Esparas in Oia. This hotel was absolutely gorgeous. There were views from every room, private balconies attached to each and often private patios as well. These were perfect for sunbathing or sipping a glass of wine while watching the famous sunsets without the crowd. The breakfast was incredible and we enjoyed it on the main patio each morning. The hotel staff was also exceptional.
