Plitvice Lakes

We began our time in Croatia with a visit to these electric blue lakes.  Peppered with waterfalls and surrounded with tons of trails, you could easily spend a full couple days here!

However, we are very efficient travelers…and only had one day.  If you plan it right, and you are able to walk at faster than a snails pace, this is simple!  The trick is to spend the night before in the park.

The accommodations aren’t glamorous by any means, but this allows you to begin hiking when the trails open and to beat the hoards of tour busses that pour in around noon and get some beautiful photos.  Its a little tricky to get to, but definitely worth a visit during your time in Croatia.
